Yoga and Walking with the Alexander Technique retreat

Snowdonia spring 4-day retreat
SOLD OUT
Aerial view of Trigonos retreat centre
Friday 25th to Monday 28th April 2025
A beautiful part of the world, with stunning views, gorgeous food, and a reputation that ensures people keep coming back year after year - you won't be disappointed!
Trigonos is a not for profit retreat centre, based on social and environmental responsibility. The beautiful buildings are located on an 18 acre estate in a magical and quiet valley in Snowdonia, the Nantille valley. The nearest railway station is Bangor, 12.6 miles away. If you are travelling by public transport, we will try to connect you with anyone else, to share the cost of the taxi journey.
The buildings and grounds border a lake, with a superb view of the west face of Snowdon. Most of the delicious vegetarian and vegan food is sourced from the gardens on their grounds, which are a joy to wander around, especially the meadowland which leads down to the lakeside.
the yoga
The yoga sessions are to suit all levels and will either energise, strengthen and warm up the body, or relax, restore and stretch out tired muscles after hours spent walking. The pace is gentle, slow and mindful, inviting you to embrace your individuality and curiosity to develop body awareness.
Embodied yoga is based on sensory experience – you're neither in competition with others, nor there to challenge yourself to the point of exhaustion! Our aim is to empower and guide your practice to help you find freedom within your body and to explore your practice both on and off the mat.

Practice space at Trigonos
The Practice Space
Our space for practicing is a light and airy studio, with under-floor heating. Huge windows provide excellent natural light and a view of the lake and mountains.
Please bring your own yoga mat if you have one (though we can provide one if you're intending to travel light!). Other yoga equipment is provided (brick, block, strap, scented eye pillow... and a few blankets), but you may prefer to bring your own if you have any.

Walking with The Alexander Technique
Mindful walking through woods, up craggy footpaths and managing descents that we might find a challenge…Enjoy the benefits of walking without undue wear and tear and the stress and strain on joints and muscles.
Widely recognised as one of the most effective self-help techniques for posture and awareness, the “thinking in action” helps us to let go of habitual tension, so that more energy is available for the sheer enjoyment of simply putting one foot in front of the other and appreciating the wonderful mountain environment.
If you have walking poles, bring them along and we can spend some time exploring how we might use them more effectively to further reduce wear and tear on the knees. Or, if you are considering using them in the future, we’ll have a few spare pairs if you’d like to try them out.
Walking level
The walking level is perfect if you love longer low-level walks, or if you’re new to walking, but already do some form of exercise fairly regularly. We are unlikely to climb higher than 450 m (1500 feet) and no longer than 9 miles. On our days out, we will take a gorgeous picnic lunch and/or a stop in one of Snowdonia’s scenic cafés.

My friend and your Walking Guide
"It's not what you do, it's the way that you do it"
Anita has been sharing her passion of the great outdoors for more than 40 years, guiding walking holidays both at home, in her beloved Snowdonia, and further afield as far as the greater ranges.
She's also an experienced coach as well as teaching the Alexander Technique for almost 30 years. Incorporating the Alexander Technique helps to stay present without pushing or judging.
She believes that we learn best when we are having fun. Walking, surfing, skiing, and climbing are as important to her as they were in her 20s. With her experience and knowledge of the human body, she continues to enjoy these sports and help others to do the same.
