Escape to...

the stunning Lake District at Brathay Hall, Ambleside

3 days: Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th December 2021

women only

Join my friend Anita and I for a weekend escape of yoga, and moderate hiking incorporating the Alexander Technique, in the beautiful Lake District countryside.

Brathay Hall Trust is a children’s charity situated on the northern tip of Lake Windermere in the heart of the Lake District and set in 360 acres of mature woodland and rolling pasture.  Once experienced, you’ll begin to understand why and how it has inspired artists and poets throughout history. Visitors to the hall and its impressive gardens in bygone days include Wordsworth, Constable and Coleridge.

The hall is situated in Clappersgate, one mile from the village of Ambleside, Cumbria. The closest train station is Windermere (approximately 3 miles), just a short line from Oxenholme mainline station. Buses or taxis run from Windermere regularly.

Join Anita and I again for a weekend of yoga, walking with the Alexander Technique and moderate hiking in beautiful Snowdonia, Wales.

Trigonos is a not for profit retreat centre, based on social and environmental responsibility. The beautiful buildings are located on an 18 acre estate in a magical and quiet valley in Snowdonia, the Nantille valley. The nearest railway station is Bangor, 12.6 miles away. If you are travelling by public transport, we will try to connect you with anyone else, to share the cost of the taxi journey.

The buildings and grounds border a lake, with a superb view of the west face of Snowdon. Most of the excellent vegetarian and vegan food is sourced from the organic gardens on the grounds, which are a joy to wander around, especially the meadowland which leads down to the lakeside.

Jacq

(Yoga Teacher)

"What you seek is seeking you" Rumi

Jacq thinks herself incredibly lucky to be born and raised in the beautiful Lake District.  She discovered yoga in her 30's and has been practicing ever since. Having studied a variety of styles including Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Scaravelli Inspired, she eventually took the plunge and completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training qualification in India (in Ashtanga and Vinyasa flow).  It was transformational for her in so many ways.

These days, her daily practice and teaching focuses on deepening physical awareness in order to find space and freedom in the body and mind... and to ensure there's fun in doing so.

She's also a qualified Thai Yoga Massage practitioner and has a 100 hour 'Yoga & Mindfulness for Teenagers' teaching qualification, having also worked as a Youth Worker and Development Trainer for many years previously.

 (International Mountain Leader)

"It's not what you do, it's the way that you do it"

Anita has been sharing her passion of the great outdoors for 40 years, guiding walking holidays both at home, in her beloved Snowdonia, and further afield as far as the greater ranges.

She's also an experienced coach as well as teaching the Alexander Technique for almost 30 years.  Incorporating the Alexander Technique helps to stay present without pushing or judging.

She believes that we learn best when we are having fun. Walking, surfing, skiing, and climbing are as important to her as they were in her 20s. With her experience and knowledge of the human body, she continues to enjoy these sports and help others to do the same.
